Tar Heels add 4-star wide receiver Kobe Paysour

Mack Brown and the UNC football program have added their second 4-star recruit in as many days.

Less than 24 hours after getting a commitment from 4-star quarterback and former Alabama pledge Drake Maye, Mack Brown and the North Carolina Tar Heels have reeled in another 4-star prospect from the class of 2021.

This time, it’s ESPN300 wide receiver Kobe Paysour, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound pass catcher out of Kings Mountain, North Carolina. Paysour marks the Tar Heels’ eighth commitment in the class, and seventh 4-star pledge in the group. Thanks to their latest commitment, the Tar Heels’ 2021 recruiting class now ranks fifth in the nation, and they’re one of just four programs that have seven or more 4-star players committed. And considering that the three other programs are Ohio State, Florida and Clemson, North Carolina is in some good company.

Paysour picked North Carolina over the likes of Duke, Georgia, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and West Virginia. He had offers from roughly a dozen other schools, too, but it was the Tar Heels — who are the hottest program on the recruiting trail, bar none — that won out in the end for Paysour’s commitment.

Paysour is a junior at Kings Mountain High School, where he has been a starter in each of his three seasons. He’s compiled 158 receptions for 3,378 yards and 46 touchdowns in that time, which is highlighted by a sensational sophomore campaign that saw him haul in 71 catches for 1,596 yards and 26 touchdowns.
